Waiting for Pixar Pier

(Disney•Pixar)

Walt Disney once said, “Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world.”  The amazing talent at Disney/Pixar combined with the imagineers at Disney Parks?  That’s imagination overload!  I am SO EXCITED to see what’s to come in 2018 as Disney California Adventure Park welcomes Pixar Pier.

All thoughts and opinions are my own.  Please read my Disclosure Policy for more information.

I get a little sentimental.  Actually, I get a lot sentimental.  The Anaheim High School bleachers by my home were torn down this past week, and I went to say goodbye.  I said goodbye to cement bleachers at a high school that I didn’t attend.  Visual markers like those connect me to my home.  If I get that nostalgic about super random slabs of stone at the local high school, how will I fair when pieces of my Disneyland change?

I trust from decades of experience that changes to the Disneyland Resort mean even more magic.  In 2018, that magic comes in the form of Pixar Pier!

Originally known as Paradise Pier, the boardwalk area of Disney California Adventure Park was modeled after the Santa Cruz area.  For prosperity sake, let’s remember that the area included the Cove Bar, Ariel’s Grotto, California Screamin’, and shops/games.  In 2008, Toy Story Midway Mania joined the boardwalk.  The 4-D spin through Toy Story themed games has guests shooting their way to top scores. The attraction is currently open during the reimagining.

Summer 2018 welcomes in the new Pixar Pier at Disney California Adventure Park.

What to Expect From Pixar Pier

Incredicoaster

Inspired by Disney/Pixar’s The Incredibles, the Incredicoaster will replace the thrilling California Screamin’.  Featuring mid-century modern styling to mirror the Incredibles (aka the Parr family) home, the attraction mock-ups look so chic.  The Incredicoaster will also feature new character moments and ride vehicles.

Early fan buzz of the ride has speculated the attraction will surround the story of baby Jack-Jack as he escapes his babysitter.

Four Neighborhoods

I don’t think I’ll ever be able to my husband to move out of our neighborhood.  Although with three daughters, I’m working hard to convince him we need more bathrooms.  Yet, talk of the new four “neighborhoods” coming to Pixar Pier may entice him to somehow find a way to move into DCA.  The four areas will be themed after the Pixar films.

This bird’s eye view shows a footprint consistent with what’s already in the park.  I’m dying to know more about new dining options on the pier.

Pixar Fest

As you plan your summer travel, make sure to include Disney California Adventure for Pixar Fest.  To celebrate the fun arriving in 2018, the Disneyland Resort will be hosting the largest theme park celebration of characters from Pixar Animation Studies.  The fun begins April 13, 2018.

Pixar Play Parade

If you had the chance to check out the Pixar Play Parade before, you’ll be thrilled to know the high-energy fun is back.  The Pixar Play Parade will thrill guests at the Disneyland Park for a limited time, beginning April 13, 2018.  In addition to the previously viewed floats, there are even more fun with three new elements.

Starting out the parade, the Pixar ball and lamp.  I’m also looking forward to the Inside Out float with Joy, Sadness, and Bing Bong riding atop the mountain of memories.

Paradise Pier, we miss you already…even more than the high school bleachers. But there is so much imagination left in the world and so much fun to be had when Pixar Pier opens in Summer 2018.   Will you be visiting the parks this year?
