God lead me to your page while looking for cholesteotoma procedure. I had ear infection in 2021 and my ENT suggested surgery but I was scared. After 3 years I got discharges of blood to be exact February 4th, 2025. Went to urgent care and waiting to see ENT tomorrow which is the 11th of February 2025. Million thanks for sharing your daughter’s surgery. I am 72 yrs old praying that the recovery will be fast. God bless us all. Indeed health is wealth .

Hi Theresa! I remember the doctor spelling out cholesteatoma for me so I could share it with my husband. I had never heard of it either. I hope your little one is doing well post-surgery. If you ever want to chat with someone, feel free to email me at melanie@clementinecounty.com. Sending lots of well wishes to your family!

My eight year old just went into surgery last week for cholesteatoma. I had never heard of this prior to this summer. He will need to undergo a second surgery next year. The whole process is scary, but I have been truly impressed and amazed at the things they can do and sure have learned a lot about the ear in the mean time.

Hi Summer! Sending lots of quick recovery well wishes your way. I can share our experience, but your hospital may run things a little differently. Upon arriving, we checked in and were admitted to the hospital. There were some routine tests, like blood pressure, temperature, weight, etc. My daughter was given a bed in the surgical unit. My daughter played on her iPad while we waited. We met with the doctors and then she was prepped for surgery. She got to stay in her clothes (comfy is a good choice), but wore a cap to keep her hair out of the way. She was given some medication to make her comfortable and an IV. She doesn’t remember the last minutes before heading in for the procedure, probably because of the anesthesia. My daughter has had tubes put in her ears twice, so she knew the waiting was boring. Like your son, she was nervous so the iPad helped give her something to keep her mind off of things. Please let me know if I can help answer any questions.
