“Thanks for noticin’ me.” –Eeyore donuts. These baked donuts are perfect for a rumbly tumblies in the morning in the Hundred Acre Woods. This Winnie the Pooh recipe brings the gloomy Eeyore to breakfast table in an adorable and yummy way!

If you’re new around Clementine County, you may not know that my family and I are pretty big movie fans. We love making their releases extra special with themed recipes and even a DIY costume or two. With the upcoming release of Disney’s Christopher Robin, it’s the perfect time to celebrate all things Winnie the Pooh.

Don’t be scared off by the steps for making these baked treats. The process includes a simple donut recipe, glazing, and decorating. The ears and facial features are made with fondant and black icing. This is a great project to make with your kids as the fondant work is pretty simple — just rolling and flattening.

Eeyore Donut Recipe

1/2 C powdered sugar

Donut Directions:

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and spray a doughnut baking pan with baking spray.

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

In a small bowl, whisk together egg, milk, butter, and vanilla extract.

Combine the wet ingredients in with the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.

Spoon batter into doughnut pan and bake for 10 minutes.

Remove from oven and allow to cool for 6 minutes before removing and placing the doughnuts onto a wire rack.

Repeat steps until all batter is used.

Making the Ears:

Using the grey fondant, pinch off about 2 – 1/2 tsp of fondant and roll into a ball.

Roll the ball in-between your hands to form a log. Using your fingers, lightly flatten the fondant log into a long flat piece of fondant. Set aside.

Pinch off about 2 – 1/8 tsp of pink fondant. Roll the pink fondant into balls and then roll them into logs. Flatten the logs into long flat pieces. Using your fingers, lightly get them wet under water.

Brush your finger along the middle of your grey disks to leave a trail of water. Water acts as a glue when working with fondant.

Carefully lay the pink flat piece onto the grey flat piece of fondant. Repeat steps for 29 more ears. You will need a total of 30 ears. Allow to sit to harden while you make the glaze.

Vanilla Glaze Directions:

In a large bowl combine the powdered sugar, vanilla, salt, and milk. Mix until combined.

If the glaze has powdered sugar clumps still, mix in another tbsp of milk.

Mix in 1-2 drops of black coloring and mix until combined. You are wanting to get a light grey shade.

Decorating Directions :

Make sure that your wire rack is on top of a larger cookie sheet so that when you pour the grey glaze onto the doughnuts, the glaze will not drip onto the counter.

Allow the donuts to dry for 10 minutes. Once the 10 minutes are up, carefully lift one of the ears up.

Lightly get your finger wet and brush it on the edge of the top of the ear. Carefully place the top of the ear on the side of the donut. Repeat steps with the other ear. Set aside while you mold your fondant bows.

Using a small pointy paint brush, dip it into the powdered sugar and brush powdered sugar into the fondant mold. Pinch a piece of red fondant, and push into the mold. Allow fondant a few minutes to set in the mold for a few minutes. Repeat process to make a total of 15 bows. To get the bow to stick to the bottom of the donut, you’ll want to lightly brush the back of the bow with water.

Just like you make the ears, you’ll want to roll and flatten the ivory fondant. Cut out a bean-shape for the base of the mouth. Lightly brush the back of the fondant with water and stick the shape into the middle of the donut.

Now onto the piping! Using black icing, pipe a line down the center of the donut from top to the middle. Give Eeyore some hair atop his head and stitches down the center line. Add two dots for eyes, and lines above for his eyebrows. Two more dots on the ivory fondant work as nostrils.
