A sweet silly ol’ bear is the inspiration for this over the top Winnie the Pooh inspired freak shake. With a glass full of nods to the Hundred Acre Woods, this crazy shake starts with a sweet vanilla honey shake and is topped with everything from a custom royal icing Pooh face to butterscotch candy sticks. You’ll be buzzing with excitement for this Winnie the Pooh Freak Shake!

Dessert’s the favorite meal of the day around here in Clementine County. We fell in love with the Unicorn Hot Chocolate and milkshakes a few years back. The difference between a freak shake and a traditional milkshake isn’t the shake itself, but the extraordinary decorations. From candy-rimmed glasses to decadent donuts topping them, freak shakes are outrageously delicious.

With the upcoming release of Christopher Robin on August 3rd, it seemed like the perfect time to “think, think, think” about Pooh and make a treat I know he’d adore. If you’ve been in your thoughtful spot and haven’t heard about what’s coming to the big screen, here’s a little more about the upcoming film:

In the heartwarming live action adventure Disney’s “Christopher Robin,” the young boy who embarked on countless adventures in the Hundred Acre Wood with his band of spirited and lovable stuffed animals, has grown up and lost his way. Now it is up to his childhood friends to venture into our world and help Christopher Robin remember the loving and playful boy who is still inside.

The simple-minded darling bear and his buddies can be seen in the official trailer.
How could you not want to celebrate all things Winnie the Pooh?

Winnie the Pooh Freak Shake

“Let’s begin by taking a smallish nap or two.”

This shake is full of so many sweet elements, you may need to take a smallish nap to prepare for all of the adorable! The shake instructions are going to be broken down into 5 parts: Pooh-faced icing transfer, honey comb sticks, rice krispy honey pot, decorations, and vanilla honey shake.

Winnie the Pooh Icing Transfer

Ingredients:

2 egg whites

1 1/2 C powder sugar

1/4 tsp cream of tarter

1/2 tsp vanilla

One piping bags fitted with the number 2 tip

Three piping bags fitted with the number 1 tip

Black, Golden Yellow, pink and Magenta gel food coloring

a picture of Pooh‘s face image from Google

pen or pencil to trace the image for the icing transfer

piece of white paper

Cookie sheet

parchment paper

4 bowls

Directions:

You’ll start by finding a picture of Winnie the Pooh’s face. Use this as a template. Trace the image onto white paper 3-4 times 4 inches apart by placing the white paper on top of your printed image. You now have multiple templates to use to make your royal icing components because you won’t just one of these adorable shakes!

Place your 3-4 templates on a cookie sheet & cover with parchment paper. Tape the edges so you have a smooth, flat surface.

You’re ready to start making your icing! Using a stand mixer, combine the powder sugar, egg whites, cream of tarter and vanilla and mix on medium speed. If the royal icing is still a yellow soup, add in 1/2 C powder sugar. Continue to mix until you get stiff peaks.

Evenly divide the icing into the 4 bowls. In the first bowl, add a few drops of Golden Yellow food coloring and mix until combined. Do the same with the pink, magenta, and black in the remaining three bowls.

Scoop some of the golden yellow icing into the piping bag with the number 2 tip on it and set aside. Using the other piping bags with the number 1 tip on them, scoop the black, pink and magenta icing colors into the bags.

Using the number 1 black icing tip, pipe out the outline, and face detail of Pooh. Using the golden yellow icing, fill in Pooh‘s face. The pink icing is for his tongue and magenta for his mouth. Set aside for one day to dry.

Honey Comb Sticks

One of the elements of the shake that makes it really stand out are the bee-covered honeycomb sticks. To make these is really pretty simple and can be done well in advance.

Ingredients:

1 box of Honey Comb cereal

Bamboo sticks

Candy melt wafers

Directions:

Using tape and two bamboo sticks, tape the two sticks together. This will help hold the candy melts in place. Using a microwave safe bowl, sprinkle in a few pieces of the candy melts and melt. These will act as glue to hold your honey comb pieces in place on the stick.

Approximately 8 pieces worked well on the sticks. Place a few on top of each other for dimension. Set aside for an hour to dry.

Rice Krispies Honey Pot

Ingredients:

Pre-made Rice Krispies Treat

Blue candy melt wafers in two shades

Yellow candy melt wafers

Black edible pen

Bamboo stick

Directions:

Using a microwave safe bowl, melt blue candy wafers separately according to package directions. Coat front of Rice Krispies Treat with darker chocolate. Then make a blue line of lighter blue.

Next, melt yellow candy and add to top of Rice Krispies Treat to give the look of oozing honey. Once all of the chocolate has set, you can add “Hunny” to the honey pot.

Decorations

Sprinkle mix (red, blue, white, and yellow jimmies and nonpareils mixed together)

Royal icing transfer bees

Old-fashioned butterscotch candy sticks

Honeycomb cereal

White frosted doughnut

HoneyBun

Bamboo sticks

White frosting

Whipped cream

The collection of decorations makes for an adorable dessert that you can personalize to your liking.

Honey Vanilla Shake

“A day without a friend is like a pot without a single drop of honey left inside.”-Winnie the Pooh

Ingredients:

5 Scoops of vanilla frostings
2 tbsp raw honey extract
1/4 C milk
Blender or milkshake machine

How to Assemble Your Winnie the Pooh Freak Shake

Directions to decorate the rim of the milkshake glass:

Using a butterknife and the white frosting, spread on frosting onto the rim of the glass.

Sprinkle the pooh sprinkles and lightly push down on the sprinkles so that they stick to the glass. Randomly place icing bee’s and honey comb onto the frosting and glass.

The Fun Stuff!

Pour the milkshake about 3/4 way into the prepared glass. Place the doughnut onto the top of the milkshake so that it sits on the rim of the glass.

Here’s where you get to be creative! You can pierce the Honeybun with a bamboo stick and place into the middle of the doughnut. Place the Honey Comb stick into the right side of the doughnut, and the Hunny pot to the left of the doughnut. Add a butterscotch candy stick, too! Top the doughnut with a hefty amount of whipped cream. Press the icing Pooh face onto the whipped cream.

Sprinkle some left over sprinkles onto the whipped cream and place some left over bee’s randomly throughout the milkshake for added decorations. Use some white frosting to act as ‘glue’ for the bees!
