Ingredients:

• First Street Mozzarella Cheese

How to Make an Easy Turkey Pita Pizza

The creation of the pita pizza is as much fun as it is yummy!

Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Farenheit.

Spread pizza sauce on your pita pizza. Top it with generous amounts of mozzarella chese.

Use the dried salami for the body of your turkey. Then, use your favorite pizza toppings arranged to resemble feathers. Rainbows of pepperoni with bell pepper strips & olives topped our pita pizzas. This is an opportunity to be creative and have some fun!

Bake your pizzas for 8 minutes or until the cheese is melted.

• Turkeys to Hide (one per child…with a few extras just in case)
• Turkey Hunt Print-Out (one per child)

How to Host a Turkey Hunt

In advance, cut out turkeys to hide. There are 12 turkeys per page on this page. Each child only needs to find 9 to complete their worksheet. If your hunters are younger or need the win, hide a few extras.

Time Hack: Use a circle punch like this one to save time.

I attached turkeys with rolled tape to windows, under plant pots, and even the play structure.

Once the turkeys are hidden, let your lil’ turkey hunters go wild! They’ll race around trying to find the turkeys and stick them to their Turkey Hunt Print-Out. Once a turkey was found, it could be restuck to the Turkey Hunt Print-Out.

Fun Hack: award your turkey hunters a special prize when they have found all 9 turkeys on their worksheet!

My friend Melissa introduced me to “the Turkey Fairy.”  Here’s the idea: you’ve got food to prep on Thanksgiving Day, and the kids are home looking for things to do.  There are plenty of ways the kids can help out in the kitchen.  But let’s be honest, it’s also great to get them out of the kitchen.

The Turkey Fairy arrives Thanksgiving morning, leaving small gifts on the front porch amid a flurry of feathers.  Her gifts are things that can keep the kids entertained while you’re busy in the kitchen. Think small coloring books, puzzles, or art projects.

Celebrate Twice

We have the good fortune of living close to a ton of family.  But that means trying to split our time on the holidays.  Rather than sitting through holiday traffic, we make it a 2-day celebration.  We celebrate with my husband’s family on Thursday, and my family on Friday.  It works out for my family since my siblings also have in-laws to visit on Turkey Day.
