Growing up, my mom decorated for every holiday.  From the wall decor to the mantle, the plates to the placemats–everything was swapped out for the next holiday.

My love language is food, so finding ways to treat my loved ones is how I celebrate holidays like St. Patrick’s Day.  These festive OREO Pops are covered in chocolate and topped with themed sprinkles.  Because you can make an entire package of cookies at once, they’re perfect for a class party or any celebration.

Treat your little leprechauns with St. Patrick's Day OREO Pops. The simple recipe is great for class parties or any St. Patrick's Day celebration.

St. Patrick’s Day OREO Pops

These St. Patrick’s Day OREO Pops are actually so simple to put together.  OREO Cookies, candy melts, and assorted theme sprinkles are all it takes!

I saw all of the sprinkles for St. Patrick’s Day end-capped at my Michael’s Store when roaming.  These are the sprinkles used in the pops:

Gold sugar sprinkles

Gold coin sprinkles (Available at Michaels)

Shamrock sprinkles (Available at Michaels)

Did you know you can use the Michael’s app to score great coupons?  Make sure to screenshot the coupon in advance so you aren’t fumbling with the app trying to access it in the checkout line.

If you happen to be shopping online, I adore this festive St. Patrick’s Day sprinkle collection.

St. Patrick's Day OREO Pops {Recipe}
Instructions
  1. Line a baking sheet with waxed paper.
  2. Place contents of one bag candy melts in a microwave safe bowl. Heat on high for 30 seconds and stir. Repeat in 30-second increments, stirring each time, until completely melted. Do not overheat as the chocolate will seize and become unusable. Do not add water. If the candy melts are too thick, add 1 teaspoon of coconut oil or vegetable shortening. Stir again. You can add up to 1 tablespoon if needed to reach pourable consistency.
  3. Dip the tip of each lollipop stick and gently press into the cream center of the cookies. If the cookie cracks, press it back together.
  4. Resting the lollipop stick against the side of the bowl, Spoon melted candy over the cookie. Then flip and repeat on the opposite side. Turn the cookie sideways and allow the excess candy melts to run back into the bowl. If air bubbles form, pop them with a toothpick.
  5. Place the coated cookie onto the baking sheet. Immediately add sprinkles and press larger sprinkles into the cookie.
  6. Allow cookie to set completely at room temperature or refrigerate for faster results. Store in an airtight container as room temperature.

The pops are perfect for sharing with your children, but also so pretty that you can serve them alongside a glass of Guinness for grown-ups too.

Each holiday is marked by the treats coming through our kitchen. With Valentine’s Day behind us, I’m ready to channel my inner Irish and get ready for St. Patrick’s Day.   My girls and I love baking adorable treats.  But we also love quick and easy holiday hacks.

These super cute Leprechaun cookies are perfect for making with kids!  The cookies are store-bought, so your job is solely to transform them into a happy leprechaun.  They’re made with candy melts and a few commercially available supplies.

Decorating can be done using squeeze bottles, which are a great thing to have on hand for bakers.  But if you’re looking to save (money or kitchen space), a Ziploc bag with the corner snipped off totally works.

The cookies are great for sharing with the people who make you feel lucky.  If your child’s class or friend group doesn’t have allergy concerns, they also make an adorable snack for a classroom party.

The Cutest Leprechaun Cookies Recipe

Super Cute Leprechaun Nutter Butters
Instructions
  1. Melt green candy melts according to package directions. Be careful not to overcook candy, or it will become too thick. Add 1 teaspoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening if it is too thick.
  2. While candy melts are in progress, prepare baking sheet with waxed paper.
  3. Dip 1/3 of cookie into melted green chocolate. Shake off excess, and place on waxed paper to harden.
  4. After all the cookies are dipped, pour remaining candy melts into a piping bag with a fine tip or a zip-top freezer bag with a small corner snipped. Create a line of candy melts across each cookie where the dipped area meets the cookie to create a hat brim. Repeat the line if desired to create a thicker looking brim. Allow to set completely before proceeding.
  5. Melt orange candy and place in a piping bag, freezer bag, or squeeze bottle. Apply the candy melts to the cookie to create a beard. Allow to set completely before proceeding.
  6. Melt the back candy and pour into a piping bag with a fine tip or a zip-top freezer bag with a small corner snipped. Create a line of candy melts across each cookie just above the hat brim. Immediately press a shamrock sprinkle into the black line.
  7. Using a toothpick, apply a small amount of black candy melts to the back of a candy eyeball. Press into place on the leprechaun’s face and repeat with the other eye.
  8. Allow candy coating to harden before serving or packaging.
Recipe Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature. Placing in the refrigerator may cause the cookie to soften.

To make the leprechauns, you’ll be dipping Nutter Butter cookies in melted candy.  Green makes up the hat with a thin black brim.  To give a little extra luck of the Irish, a shamrock sprinkle tops his hat.  My sprinkles were end capped at my local Michael’s store, but a similar sprinkle is available on Amazon.

The orange beard takes an ounce more precision, but is appropriate for beginning bakers.  The edible candy eyeballs can be set into hardening candy.  The little faces each have their own personalities when the eyes aren’t perfectly placed!

We basically started watching Christmas movies when the kids were still wearing their Halloween costumes.  Thankfully the explosion of popularity in cheesy Christmas movies kept us entertained most of November.  When December hits, it’s time to pull out the classics and other family favorites.

Do you love the Christmas movie Elf as much as I do? Try these cupcakes inspired by Buddy the Elf and his sugar-filled breakfast choices!

Elf is hands-down my favorite Christmas movie.   Will Ferrell is genius as the adopted elf growing up in the North Pole who goes on a journey to find his birth father, who just so happens to be on Santa’s naughty list.  It’s filled with holiday spirit and so many quotable moments.

Best Elf Quotes

  • Buddy the Elf, what’s your favorite color?
  • You sit on a throne of lies.
  • SON OF A NUTCRACKER!
  • You smell like beef and cheese.
  • Deb, you have such a pretty face.  You should be on a Christmas card.
  • I like to whisper too.
  • I’m in a store, and I’m singing!
  • I’m a cotton-headed ninny-muggins.

Buddy’s got a thing for sweets, and when asked what he loves to eat for breakfast he shares another classic quote: We elves try to stick to the four main food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corns, and syrup.

Inspired by Buddy the Elf’s favorite breakfast meal, these cupcakes are the perfect treat to share for an Elf movie night.

Buddy the Elf Inspired Cupcakes

With the busy holiday season, it can be a huge time savings to use a cake mix as the base for your cupcakes.  These are made with French Vanilla cake mix, and then topped with some of Buddy the Elf’s favorite breakfast foods: “spaghetti”, M&M’s, sprinkles, and marshmallows.

It’s not advised that you actually eat these for breakfast, but who am I to judge?

Instructions
Cupcake Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line cupcake pan with paper cupcake liners.
  2. Using a hand mixer, beat cake mix, butter, eggs, milk, and vanilla until well combined.
  3. Scoop batter into prepared cupcake pan, filling 3/4 of the way.
  4. Bake for 21 minutes, or until toothpick is inserted & comes out clean.
Decorating Instructions
  1. In a stand mixer, combine butter, cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla bean paste. Mix on medium until well combined. If you notice your frosting is clumpy, you can add up to 2 tablespoons more heavy whipping cream.
  2. Continue to mix until stiff and creamy.
  3. Add prepared frosting to piping bag, fitted with #3 tip. You can also use a plastic sandwich bag with the corner snipped off, if needed!
  4. Use the piping bag to make spaghetti on cooled cupcakes. Long squiggles criss-crossing the cupcake will give the appearance of spaghetti noodles. Pile them high!
  5. Decorate with M&M candies and Christmas sprinkles. Top with mini marshmallows!

Any Elf fan will adore these sugar-filled treats.  We think they’re prefect for a family movie night or holiday Christmas party!

  • Spread Christmas cheer by singing loud for all to hear.
  • Dodge taxis.  Watch out for the yellow ones; they don’t stop.
  • Read holiday stories.
  • Play telephone since everyone likes to whisper!
  • Throw snowballs.  If you live in a warm climate, like I do, you can use cotton balls and throw them in buckets.

I adore Elf and all its holiday cheer.  Do you have a favorite Christmas movie?  Share it in the comments!
