Disney on Ice: Mickey’s Search Party Was Magic

Want to chill with Ariel, Moana, and Mickey Mouse, too? Join your favorite Disney characters in Disney on Ice presents Mickey’s Search Party.

We received complimentary tickets to Disney on Ice to facilitate this review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

My friend Cherie and I brought our daughters for an epic girls’ night out to the Anaheim Honda Center for Disney on Ice presents Mickey’s Search Party. The last time I went to a Disney on Ice was with Cherie with my big girls (now tweens) so it was pretty perfect being able to experience the magic together again!

To say I was blown away is a total understatement. I expected majestic skating and happy kiddos, but there is so much more to Mickey’s Search Party!

Mickey’s Search Party

That mean ol’ crook Captain Hook has locked up Tinker Bell in hopes of acquiring her magic wand. Working together with Mickey and his pals and some engaging cast members, audience members are off on a quest to solve puzzles and restore the Magic Meter. Once it’s at its maximum, Tinker Bell will be free!

The adventure takes the audience through several beloved Disney franchises. For the first time, Coco joins Disney on Ice.

You’ll see these story lines take the ice:

  • Beauty and the Beast
  • The Little Mermaid
  • Aladdin
  • Toy Story
  • Moana
  • Coco
  • Frozen

Each performance is captivating. Each moment is as magical as the next whether you’re quietly crying because Lin-Manuel Miranda songs get your every time or you’re low-key freaking out that there are trampolines on the ice!

Disney on Ice presents Mickey’s Search Party sets your heart soaring with incredible aerial work and stunts. Mingled seamlessly with the skating, performers take flight! From Ariel and Prince Eric gracefully sailing through the air to skeletons from Disney/Pixar’s Coco dancing atop gigantic stilts, the stuntwork is a must see. The show includes pyrotechnics, strobe lights, projections, and a generous helping of pixie dust.

Another fun addition to the Disney on Ice presentation is the inclusion of audience participation. Audience members are selected to assist with a variety of tasks to move the plot along. Some of my blogger friends even had their children chosen to ride in a sled across the ice!

Tips for Disney on Ice

Want to make it an extra magical night? Here are some tips!

Discounted Tickets

Use code Mom20 to save on your Disney on Ice tickets. When writing this post, there were also tickets available at Groupon. Make sure to book your Disney on Ice tickets early, especially for premium seats.

What to Wear

As expected with an ice show, it is colder inside the venue. Sweatshirts or jackets will be keep princes and princesses happy inside.

Disney duds are always a good idea! Costumed children joined the fun at our show. Just make sure they will be comfortable for the duration of the presentation.

Souvenirs

Various souvenirs are available for purchase. We opted for the cutest Olaf snowcones. Many vendors accept both cash and cards; our snow cone salesperson did not.

We purchased similar snowcones at our last Disney on Ice experience, and kept the cups for years. Knowing they were likely to be cherished for some time, I was comfortable investing in them.

In parenting, you often go with the flow. For Disney on Ice, you’re going to want to go with the glow. Tons of light up toys and bubble toys are available for purchase. If you’re looking to bring in these items from home, make sure to read through your venue’s policy on outside items.

The Honda Center in Anaheim, for example, does not allow glow sticks.

Time Your Fun

The show runs around 2 hours with a short intermission. Opt for a daytime show with younger children who may turn into Sleeping Beauty’s at bedtime.

You won’t want to miss a second of the show, so make sure to allow enough time for parking, getting through security, and finding your seats.

Share your Smiles

During intermission, photos are displayed on the big screen. Make sure to snap a photo and share it using #DisneyonIce and you may see yourselves on the big screen.
