Knott’s Berry Farm Coaster Campout

Want to spend the night at Knott’s Berry Farm? The Coaster Campout is your chance to spend the night at the park, while also gaining access to both Knott’s and Soak City with your camp fees.  Grab your tent and sleeping bags,  and make memories during the Coaster Campout.

I received complimentary admission to the event to facilitate this review.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

During one of our Berry Blogger events, the Knott’s ambassadors and I strolled through the park after hours and joked about spending the night at the park.  How fun would it be to set up a tent in Camp Snoopy or hang out on HangTime at 2 AM?  So imagine my surprise when they told me it was actually possible to spend the night at Knott’s.  You can camp out at Knott’s Berry Farm!

The annual summer event is titled “Coaster Campout.”  The unique experience offers campers admission to Knott’s Berry Farm and Soak City, plus camping out on the grassy park pavilion area next to Soak City.  Each campsite location holds up to 4 people making it an incredible savings for park admission.  To sweeten the deal, all proceeds from the event go to the Boys and Girls Club of America.

We checked in early and opted to explore Knott’s Berry Farm with our preschooler for few hours.  We’re currently obsessed with photos in front of the Charlie Brown Wall, the store facade for the new Peanuts-themed store in the California Marketplace.  She started out in her DIY Sally dress but what fun is camping if you don’t have a new outfit?  So we headed into the Peanuts store to pick up a Charlie Brown dress & boysenberry shortbread cookies for a snack.

Our happy camper loves being able to pick the rides, and with her big sisters away for the weekend she was able to take charge of our itinerary.  Camp Snoopy is her mecca within the park with opportunities to go for a balloon race, a ride on the school bus, or wobble across the rope bridges.

At 7:00 PM, we were able to check into our campsite and start setting up.  Spots are designated, with plenty of room for our Taj Mahal of a tent.  Families had already arrived, and were helping others set up.  The campground is grassy–much more comfortable than some of the mountain campsites we’ve visited.  It’s also important to note that the area is gated with security on patrol throughout the night.

When packing for your own campout, you’ll want to bring:

  • tent
  • sleeping bags & pillows
  • toiletries
  • Snoopy plush

The field was illuminated with extra space near the old church for running around.  Restroom facilities were nearby also, making “roughing it” a whole lot easier.  The park remained open until 10 PM so evening entertainment was presented twice, once at 9 and again at 10.

It wouldn’t be camping with s’mores, and Knott’s didn’t disappoint.  S’mores and beverages were served while camp counselors performed a musical presentation with charming campfire classics.  The three entertainers filled out their act with what I will affectionately call Dad Jokes.  Poppy ate it all up, grooving to classic songs. They came back for a repeat performance, but by 10 PM my little one was fast asleep.

We shared our weekend camping out on Instagram.  Are you following the fun Instagram yet?

If you’ve ever arrived early to Knott’s, you’ve probably noticed that the farm has livestock to greet you as you exit the parking lot and head to the park.  Those live roosters made sure we got a full day of fun, starting their crowing early Sunday morning.  It is a farm after all!

A continental breakfast with fresh fruit, muffins, yogurt, and coffee was served.  Poppy had made a new friend and happily played on the stage.  One highlight of the campout was the arrival of our favorite beagle in pajamas of his own.  Snoopy came by the tents to wake up any sleeping campers and also to take photos with the families.

We took down our tent, restocked the car, and milled around for a bit.  We’re a family of early risers, so found ourselves with time to spare until we could access the parks.  If you’re like us, you’ll want to bring along some games or entertainment for the morning.  Campers at the Coaster Campout were granted early access to the park alongside annual passholders at 9:30 AM.  Those opting to visit Soak City needed to wait until opening at 10 AM.  We decided to visit the Starbucks in the California Marketplace while we waited.  Because if there’s coffee nearby, I’m going to drink it.  Did you know you can order a boysenberry frapuccino at the Knott’s Berry Farm location?

Coffee not your thing?  Another great morning option is to grab a DoughKNOTT.

We spent another day enjoying the park, picking up a refill for our boysenberry jellybean jar, and making new memories.

The Coaster Campout is a unique opportunity to spend the night at Knott’s Berry Farm while making a difference in the lives of children by supporting the Boys and Girls Club.  The $250 fee for a family of 4 makes your admission to the parks an incredible deal.  Yet, the family memories are priceless.
