The countdown until summer break is on! My kids still have two full weeks to go before we have swap schoolbooks for sunscreen. But we are definitely ready for fun. High on our bucket list for this summer vacation are days at Knott’s Berry Farm. If you aren’t already annual pass holders, now is the time! Summer at Knott’s Berry Farm
HangTime
Catch a wave to California’s first & only dive coaster! HangTime pulls riders straight up in a vertical lift to leave them suspended at the top for seven seconds. The thrilling fun continues as you soar through one inversion after another at speeds exceeding 50 miles per hour.
I’m a big fan of roller coasters, so I was thrilled when I was asked to ride HangTime early. It meant riding four times in a row without getting off the ride. The amazing coaster technology doesn’t make you feel queasy, even after all of those loops. And I’ve got to say, it gets better after each ride.
I would definitely plan to ride twice, once during the day and once at night. The track lighting illuminated your path is gorgeous and presents a totally new experience.
Knott’s Soak City
Looking to keep cool this summer? Head to Orange County’s largest water park. The expanded Soak City features slides, tide pool, lazy river, and multiple water play areas. My older girls (8 and 10) took on the big drops, while I enjoyed the views from our cabana.
The cabana was the perfect way to enjoy the entire day at the water park, allowing for a complete retreat from the sun and a comfy place to relax. But the kids would only let us relax for a few minutes. There’s too much fun to be had.
Poppy’s living her best life in the toddler area, called Gremmie Lagoon. We plan on spending a day a week at Soak City this summer. Separate admission is required for Knott’s Soak City.
Our best tip: Get there at opening to beat the crowds.
Ghost Town Alive
The western town of Calico comes to life in an immersive choose your own adventure experience. The townspeople engage with park guests as guests work through clues to solve mysteries and complete tasks. The evolving story line makes guests the starts of a western adventure.
At various locations throughout Calico, our kids were given playing cards. When matched to signage posted throughout town, the kids received additional clues.
The fun doesn’t stop there! Get yourself a custom mustache at the barber, make a bow at the dress shop, or perhaps join a bank-robbing gang. It’s a great experience for older children. My kids eat it up!
I’ll be sharing more of this year’s fun soon. Rumor has it, gold fever has struck! Ghost Town Alive runs select days through September 3rd.
Two New Shows — Beach Blanket Beagle and Calico’s Mountain Jamboree!
Beach Blanket Beagle
The coolest beagle is debuting a new show at the Charles M. Schultz Theatre. Beach Blanket Beagle brings the tunes of the 60’s and 70’s to the stage in a dance party, perfect for any beach comber. It’ll be a perfect way to beat the heat on the warm summer days.
The musical show is debuting in June at the Charles M. Schultz Theatre, Surf’s up select days June 9-August 19th.
Big laughs and big stunts are planned for the Calico Mine Stage as Knott’s Berry Farm presents Calico’s Mountain Jamboree! Two rival groups, the Timber Mountain Loggers and Calico Miners, square off in a stunt-filled spectacular.
We are routinely impressed with the quality of shows presented at Knott’s Berry Farm and can’t wait to check out these new entertainment offerings June 9th through August 19th.
