There’s magic baked into every Disney treat! A newer treat has captured the tastebuds of Disney fans: Churro Toffee. The white chocolate and cinnamon covered toffee squares are a true delight. Learn how to make Disneyland Copycat Churro Toffee at home

It’s not a Disney day without a churro. According to Pop Sugar, 2.8 million churros are sold annually at the resort. With all of use drooling over the cinnamon sticks of magic, it’s no suprise the flavors are popping up in other forms. At Trolley Treats Candy Shop in Disney California Adventure, guests can enjoy a twist on the classic churro: Churro Toffee.

The oversized square of toffee is covered in white chocolate and cinnamon. It’s a glorious blend of buttery, crunchy toffee and cinnamon sweetness. It’s a newer Disney treat, and one that you 100% will fall in love with.

The treats are also sold in the Downtown Disney District at Marceline’s Confectionary. I snapped this photo of the delightful treat.

It’s worth every penny, of course, but I’m saving my pressed pennies for Disneyland tickets so I am so happy that the white chocolate and cinnamon-covered toffee can be made at home.

Check out this recipe to make your own Disneyland copycat recipe for Churro Toffee.

Disneyland Copycat Recipe: Churro Toffee

The Basics

Serving: 12 pieces
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 10 minutes
Resting time: 60 minutes
Total time: 1 hour and 10 minutes

Ingredients

For Toffee:

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 package Ghirardelli White Melting Wafers

For Toffee Coating:

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar mixed with 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Directions

  • Put parchment paper in a large baking pan.
  • Add butter, sugar, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the butter is melted.
  • Allow the mixture to come to a boil and continue to cook until the mixture becomes a dark golden color.
  • Continue to stir occasionally until the temperature reaches 285 degrees.
  • As soon as toffee reaches temperature, pour it into the prepared baking sheet.

Baking Tip: At this point, you can leave whole. However, it will be easier for you to cut before it cools down. Cut when warm, going over your lines 4-5 times.

  • Let set for 20 minutes in the refrigerator.
  • Melt the wafers according to package directions and cover all the squares.
  • Then sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture and set for another 40 minutes.

If you did not cut it at the beginning, break toffee into pieces.

Do you love The Nightmare Before Christmas as much as our family? The holiday classic brings the perfect amount of scary to our Disney recipe collections. Combining both Oogie Boogie and Minnie Mouse, these cupcakes are a fun addition to a Halloween party or movie night!

All thoughts and opinions are my own.

It’s Oogie’s turn to Boogie now!

Oogie Boogie, the bug-filled gambler, in Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas took over the decor at Disney California Adventure Park. His burlap face rests atop the park’s entrance, and he’s throwing quite the Halloween party.

If you’re looking to bring a little fun home, try these Oogie Boogie Cupcakes, decked out with a little extra Disney magic in the form of Minnie Mouse ears and bow.

Minnie Mouse Oogie Boogie Cupcakes

These cupcakes can be made with three steps:

  • make fondant decorations
  • make cupcakes
  • make frosting

If you’re short on time, a boxed cake mix can be a big time savings. The recipe I’m sharing today fancies up a cake mix. If your friends or family judge you, make sure to spin Oogie Boogie’s roulette wheel of torture to find a suitable punishment!

Mom truth bomb: I’ve even purchased cupcakes from my local grocery store bakery and added my own decorations when in a pinch.

If you’re new to fondant, this would be a great way to test it out! You’ll be rolling out pre-made fondant and cutting circles. Using edible markers, you’ll draw Oogie Boogie on your circles. Not so sure of your artistic abilities? Print and cut out a picture of Oogie to use as a stencil.

Fondant Ears

Ingredients & Supplies

  • 1 container of neon green fondant
  • 1 container of purple fondant
  • 1 container of black fondant
  • 1 4-inch round fondant cutter
  • 1 black edible marker
  • 1 silver edible marker
  • 1 small cutting board
  • 1 fondant roller
  • 1 C powder sugar
  • 1 cookie sheet
  • 1 Wilton bow fondant mold

Directions.

  • Sprinkle powder sugar onto cutting board and spread around.
  • Remove neon green fondant from container and place onto cutting board
  • Coat fondant with powder sugar and roll out onto the cutting board into a flat 1/2 inch disk.
  • Using the 4-inch round cutter, cut out 24 circles. Put aside on cookie sheet
  • Using the purple fondant pinch off about 1 tbsp of fondant and place it into the large bow mold. Lightly use your finger to mold into the bow. Pop the bow out and place onto the cookie sheet.
  • Using the black fondant and smaller bow mold, mold the black fondant into the bow and pop it out. Place onto the cookie sheet.
  • Using the silver marker, dot on polka dots onto the black bow
  • Next, fill a cup of water.
  • Using your finger, dip it into the water and run it along the back of the black bow. Place the black bow onto the middle of the purple bow
  • Using the black edible marker, draw out Oogie Boogie onto the neon green circles.
  • Allow to set for 30 minutes.

Zoomed in on the cupcakes a little more, you can see Oogie is drawn on the fondant circles. If you can use a Sharpie, you can do this!

Chocolate cupcakes

Makes 12 Cupcakes

Ingredients

  • 1 box of triple chocolate mix cake mix
  • 3 large eggs room temp
  • 1/2 C of softened unsalted sweet cream butter
  • 1 C whole milk
  • Also needed: cupcake liners and cupcake pan

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Line muffin pan with the white cupcake liners
  • In a medium bowl, add the cake mix, butter, milk, and stir until combined.
  • Scoop batter into the cupcake pans about 3/4 way full
  • Bake in the oven for about 18-20 minutes.
  • Pull out the cupcakes and allow to cool before frosting.

Vanilla Frosting

Ingredients

  • 2 C unsalted sweet cream butter, softened
  • 5 C powder sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 6-10 TBSP heavy whipping cream
  • Also needed: one large piping bag with large star tip

Directions

“That’s right. I AM THE PUMPKIN KING!” Jack Skellington is the king of Halloween. Celebrate the season with homemade Mickey Mouse-shaped Jack Skellington Rice Krispies treats.

All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is Halloween! Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas fills our hearts with horror from Halloween to Christmas. We as a family look forward to the return of the Pumpkin King each year, especially at Disneyland.

If you haven’t seen the film, Jack Skellington rules over Halloween Town, but is curious about the merriment of Christmas Town. The 1993 Tim Burton film follows him as he attempts to spread yuletide cheer to his Halloween town.

To celebrate the return of Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort, the iconic Haunted Mansion ride gets a seasonal overlay with Jack and his friends. Mickey Mouse and Jack Skellington are a perfect pair for celebrating this time of year!

These Mickey Mouse shaped Rice Krispies treats are decorated with Jack Skellington’s face. They’re perfect for any Disney fan who wants something a tad bit spooky!

Making these Mickey Mouse-shaped Jack Skellington Rice Krispies Treats is as easy as 1-2-3!

You’ll start by making Rice Krispies Treats using the simple recipe. Next, you’ll make royal icing. Finally, you’ll decorate your treats!

Time Hack: use store bought royal icing to save on time.

Step 1: Make Rice Krispies Treats

Rice Krispies Treats Ingredients

  • 3 TBSP unsalted butter
  • 1 package marshmallows or 4 cups miniature marshmallows
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal

You will also need:

  • Large saucepan
  • Wax paper
  • 13 x 9 in pan
  • Baking spray
  • Mickey Mouse Head cookie cutter

Instructions:

  • Prep pan with cooking spray.
  • Melt butter in a large saucepan on low heat. Slowly add the marshmallows. Stir the marshmallows until completely melted. Set aside.
  • Add Rice Krispies cereal. Stir until all of the cereal is coated.
  • Using wax paper, press the mixture into the pan. Cool.
  • Carefully remove the Rice Krispies treats sheet from the pan.
  • Use the cookie cutter to cut out Mickey’s head. Set aside.

Step 2: Make Royal Icing

Royal Icing Ingredients

  • 3 large egg whites
  • 1 tsp cream of tarter
  • 3 C powder sugar
  • 1 tsp pure almond extract
  • black gel food coloring
  • Black edible spray paint

You will also need:

  • 2 disposable piping bags with number 2 tip
  • 1 squeeze bottle

Instructions:

  • Using a standing mixer, beat the egg whites, cream of tarter, powder sugar, and almond extract until combined, smooth and stiff with peaks (about 7 minutes)
  • Scoop 1/2 C of the icing into a bowl and mix in a few drops of the black gel food coloring
  • Scoop the black icing into 1 piping bag
  • Scoop some white icing into the second piping bag
  • Mix in 2 tbsp of water into the remaining white icing and pour into the squeeze bottle

Step 3: Decorate Your Treats

In between each step, you’ll want to let the icing set and dry.

  • Line up the Rice Krispies Mickey heads on a waxed paper lined counter.
  • Outline the Mickey head with the white icing. Let dry.
  • Squeeze icing onto the center of the Mickey head. Use a butter knife to spread the icing on the Mickey head. Let dry.
  • Using the black icing, pipe out Jack’s face. Let dry
  • Use the black spray paint, spray the edges of the Rice Krispies treats for effect.

They’re perfect for a Nightmare Before Christmas movie night or any Halloween celebration. My kids love something special to celebrate each season, and these scream Halloween!

Mickey Mouse Rice Krispies Treat Ingredients

  • 6 cups crispy rice cereal (pictured with cocoa crispy rice cereal)
  • (10 ounce) miniature marshmallows
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • Black candy wafer melts
  • Red candy wafer melts
  • White nonpareil sprinkles

You will also need:

  • Mickey Mouse cookie cutter (from this set)
  • Waxed paper

How to Make Mickey Mouse Rice Krispies Treats

1. Prepare a 13 x 9 baking sheet with wax paper and a spritz of non-stick cooking spray.

2. Melt butter in a large saucepan over low heat. When the butter is melted, add the marshmallows and melt, stirring constantly. Remove the saucepan from heat.

3. Fold in the cereal. Stir until the cereal is coated in the marshmallow.

4. Using a buttered spatula or greased wax paper evenly press mixture into baking sheet. Cool completely.

5. Use cookie cutter to cut treats. If the treats are loose, press additional krispy mixture into the cookie cutter before releasing the shape onto waxed paper. Reshape the remaining cereal in your baking pan until all is used.

6. Place black candy melts in a microwave safe bowl. Melt on high heat, stirring every 30 seconds until completely melted. Do not overheat. If the candy is too thick, add vegetable shortening or coconut oil in 1 teaspoon increments, up to 1 tablespoon, and stir well. Do not add water.

7. Lightly dip one side of a treat into the melted candy. Allow to set before proceeding to the next step.

8. Melt red candy melts. Spoon over bottom half of treat allowing excess to drip back into bowl. Immediately press two nonpareils into place as buttons.

9. Allow to dry completely before packaging or storing.

There are lots of quotes by Walt Disney seared into my heart. One of my favorites that I have used in my home is part of the opening speech for Disneyland, “To all who come to this happy place, welcome!” I think it sets the mood for joy and festivity, two things I’m hoping for whenever we have guests.

Another favorite reminds me that huge accomplishments can come from the most meager of things.

“I only hope that we don’t lose sight of one thing – that it was all started by a mouse.” – Walt Disney

What is it about the little mouse?

Is he the every man character…approachable and flawed, yet still charming?

Is it his friendly demeanor?

Maybe it’s his position as the spokesmouse for one of the world’s most trusted brands. Whatever the reason, I’m on board for all things M-I-C-K-E-Y!

If you adore Mickey Mouse as much as I do, these decorated cookies are just the thing. They are perfect for a Mickey Mouse birthday party. You can make them in advance and pack them for your next Disney trip as a special treat.

The great Mickey Pumpkin on Main Street is a must photo op when we visit the Disneyland Resort during HalloweenTime.  The gigantic beaming face welcomes guests to the Halloween season.  If you haven’t attended during the fall, the weather’s lovely and the treats are in abundant supply.

We love bringing the magic of the Disney parks home, especially to our kitchen.  To celebrate the upcoming holiday at the Disneyland Resort, today I’m sharing Mickey Pumpkin Donuts.  This recipe will make all Mickey Mouse fans shout “Oh Boy!”  When you consider how simple it is to make them, you might even respond with a “Hot Diggity Dog!”  Thankfully that’s all of the Mickey Mouse catch phrases I can think of, so we can move on to the recipe.

To make Mickey Pumpkin Donuts, you will start by baking vanilla donuts.  They’re healthier than fried donuts, and as easy to whip up as any cookie or cake.  I won’t tell if you opt to pick up pre-made ones at the store.  After baking your donuts, you’ll add icing to cover and decorate them.

  • 1/3 C sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 2 tbsp unsalted sweet cream butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/3 C + 1 1/2 tbsp whole milk
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
Directions :
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

Prepare your baking pan by spraying with Pam baking spray. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

In a small bowl, whisk together egg, milk, butter, and vanilla extract.

Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.Spoon batter into doughnut pan and bake for 10 minutes.  The donut should spring back when touched.

Remove from oven and allow to cool for 6 minutes before removing and placing the donuts onto a wire rack.

Vanilla Icing Ingredients:
  • 4 C powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp clear corn syrup
  • 1/2 C whole milk
  • 1 tsp clear vanilla extract
  • Orange, yellow, and green gel food colorings
  • 3 disposable piping bags

Icing Directions:

Using a standing mixer, combine the powdered sugar, corn syrup, milk, and vanilla extract.  Mix on medium to high speed until smooth and thick.

Scoop about 1/4 C of the icing into 2 bowls.  In one bowl, add a few drops of green food coloring.

In the remaining bowl, add yellow food coloring to the icing.  Once mixed, scoop the icing colors into separate piping bags.

Add a few drops of the orange gel food coloring into the remaining white icing and mix.  You’ll need around 5 tablespoons.  Scoop the orange icing into the remaining piping bag.

You will have icing leftover.

How to Decorate Mickey Pumpkin Donuts:

Cut slits into the top corners of the doughnut for Mickey’s ears using a sharp knife.  If baking with children, you’ll want to do this step for them.

Place an orange candy melt into each of the slits for Mickey’s ears.  We’ve got ears!  Last Mickey quote, I promise.

Place donuts onto a wire rack and carefully pour the remaining orange icing onto the donuts. I recommend putting a tray underneath your wire rack to catch the icing that runs off of the donuts.

Allow the donuts to dry for about 30 minutes.  While waiting, you can cut your Fun Dip sticks into thirds.  You really want the rounded end pieces, so you can reserve the middle pieces for late night sugar rushes after the kids have gone to bed.

Carefully push the Fun Dip stick piece into the top center of the donut in between the ears.  Using your green piping bag, cover the stick with green icing until completely coated.  This will need to dry, so plan your Halloween costumes while you wait.

Once dry, use the same green piping bag to pipe 3 lines onto the “stem.”

Next, take the orange piping bag and pipe the details of the pumpkin onto the donuts.  A straight line down the center is a great place to start. Then pipe rounded lines from top to bottom.  Set the donuts aside to dry as you work through all of your donuts.

Using the yellow piping bag, pipe the 3 dots onto the doughnuts for the eyes and mouth.

The best part of all is sharing these with people you love.  It makes me so happy to think back at Halloweens past with my little Anna, Elsa, and Olaf too!  These happy Mickey Pumpkin Donuts usher in the memories of cooler temperatures, costumed characters, and devilishly good times–all the best parts of Halloween!

Halloween at Disneyland is one of my favorite times of year.  How do you celebrate Halloween?
