Knott’s is always a fun day for my family, with a variety of attractions perfect for preschoolers to parents. Knott’s Boysenberry Festival operates daily from March 13 through April 12, 2026. Today I’m excited to share our all the fun, including our berry favorite food offerings.

In between six large servings of deliciousness from the Tasting Card, you’ll want to stroll through the park.  There’s tons of fun scheduled for this special time of year.

Shopping

Shop at the unique vendors selling homemade crafts (it’s like Etsy in person) at the Craft Fair.  Or pick up some boysenberry memorabilia like themed Snoopy stuffed animals and boysenberry candles.

If you can manage to keep plants alive (I can’t), boysenberry plants are available for purchase at a recreation of Walter & Cordelia Knott’s Original Roadside Boysenberry Stand.

My kids are all about the roller coasters right now.  So we took advantage of the opportunity to run on some of our favorite rides.  For my youngest, the recently reimagined Camp Snoopy is a great place to start.  The Easter Beagle stops by for an adorable photo op with his Peanuts pals.

Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the rest of the PEANUTS Gang are a special part of the Knott’s experience.  During the PEANUTS Celebration, the Charles M. Schultz comic strip is celebrated in a unique, park-wide event.  From unique activities to adorable photo op’s, the fun of PEANUTS Celebration was one of our absolute favorite parts of the year.

The celebration will be happening Weekends February 8 through March 9, 2025, plus President’s Day.

NEW! Let’s Celebrate Show on the Calico Mine Stage 

New this year, Knott’s Berry Farm presents, Let’s Celebrate, a heartwarming musical tribute on the Calico Mine Stage in honor of PEANUTS’ 75th Anniversary. Snoopy, Charlie Brown and all their friends, as well as a host of singers and dancers, remind us why Peanuts is still beloved after 75 years!

The stage will transform at nightfall as the park hosts Snoopy’s Legendary Rooftop Concert. The Peanuts Gang has teamed up with the family-friendly indie band, The Jelly of the Month Club, for a high-energy spectacle sure to have everyone dancing.

The Life and Art of Charles M. Schulz at Calico Town Hall

At Calico’s Town Hall, guests will enter a new, limited-time exhibit dedicated to “The Life and Art of Charles M. Schulz.” This exhibit explores Schulz’s personal history and his role as the sole inspiration and artistic talent behind PEANUTS and its unique cast of characters. Follow along with Schulz’s story, from his Minnesota roots to his life in California and the development of the characters that make up the unique world of PEANUTS.

PEANUTS Sketch School at Bird Cage Theatre

The PEANUTS-inspired festivities will continue at the Bird Cage Theatre as the park offers an experience that teaches the young and the young at heart how to draw their favorite PEANUTS characters. The PEANUTS Sketch School will include our resident art teacher, providing step-by-step instructions on creating the perfect PEANUTS masterpiece.

PEANUTS Cowboy Jamboree at Calico Park

A western escapade occurs at Calico Park with Franklin and Linus as they transform into cowboys in the PEANUTS Cowboy Jamboree. The boys are hosting a western escapade as they channel their inner cowboys in PEANUTS Cowboy Jamboree at Calico Park.  Perfect for the kids, join in the rootinest, tootinest games in Calico.

Boysenberry desserts offer a stronger kick of the berry flavor that I just adore.  We all know that you’re going to walk off the calories as you stroll through Knott’s Berry Farm, so we won’t even worry about how many desserts are consumed.

There’s a variety of beer, wine, and other adult beverages making Knott’s Boysenberry Festival a wonderful outing for date night or with a group of friends.

Since we are talking about drinks, I have to mention there are some really fun beverages to take home too.  We love the bottled sodas, including sugar-free options.

 It’s been a while since I mentioned Boysenberry Elote, so I’ll do that again now. 

Wine and Craft Brew Tasting Garden

Pick up a Wine and Craft Brew Tasting Card for $25 to get 6 samples of wine or craft brew in the Wilderness Dance Hall.  It’s a great way to unwind from all the fun with friends.  My favorite is to have the barkeep mix the boysenberry beer and cider together.  While you’re enjoying your drinks, check out the new “Tied Up in Knott’s” art show.  It’s a tribute to all things Knott’s Berry Farm.  The original art pieces are available for sale, plus prints for sale in the Mystery Lodge.

The fictional town of Calico within Knott’s Berry Farm literally “comes alive” with an interactive storyline building off of previous years.  

What’s so exceptional about the Ghost Town Alive experience is two-fold: the characters and the guests. 

Each citizen has his or her own personality and part to play. I can’t speak highly enough of the talent rootin’ and tootin’ their way through Calico. In addition to epic storytelling that responds to the guests’ suggestions, the citizens engage guests in a variety of activities.

My kids have been enjoying Ghost Town Alive for years, and after a brief hiatus due to theme park closures, we’re so happy to be back.

Additionally, you’ll be presented with themed activities exclusive to Ghost Town Alive. The Barber Shop passed out hobby horses and wrapped packages for guests to deliver all throughout town.

However, it’s not just talented actors and a fun plot line that make Ghost Town Alive a must-see this summer.  The guests (that’s YOU) make choices that shift the plot.  I participated by voting for Scrubs Mayfield who ended up being elected sheriff, and thus was able to free his family from jail.

Ghost Town Alive is a western-themed “Choose Your Own Adventure” come to life, with bits of detective work included.

Tips for Experiencing Ghost Town Alive

• Get There Early  You won’t want to miss a second of the story.  The experience lasts from 10 AM – 5:30 PM when all are invited to a hoe-down.
• Engage The quick thinking residents of Calico respond in character to your conversations.  The more you participate, the more fun you’ll have!
• Dress the Part Put on something purdy, and get yourself to Calico.  If you’re going to be an honorary town citizen, so grab some plaid and a cowboy hat.
• Look for the Details The small details were not overlooked in planning Ghost Town Alive.  The newspaper includes updated stories featuring real-life guests!  The storyline is well developed and these albeit small things made the one-of-a-kind experience envelope guests into the western town.
• Consider a Season Pass One thing was clear as my family enjoyed the day.  There were “regulars.”  People who visit frequently and really get into the fun.  I loved staying from rope drop to hoe-down, and know return trips would each be unique.  Get more information about Knott’s Berry Farm season passes here.

We’ve still got a few weeks left in the school year–yes, weeks.  But with the temperatures rising and the homework load lightening, it certainly feeling like summer.  So Knott’s Soak City Water Park was the perfect getaway for our pre-summer day.  I was able to bring my three daughters and my mama for a girls’ day.  We splashed, we floated, we had so much fun!

New Expansion at Knott’s Soak City Water Park

Orange County’s largest water park is even bigger for the 2017 season with 2 acres of fast-paced slides being added.  Additionally, return guests will notice additional cabanas and shaded areas.  When all that swimming and splashing has worked up an appetite, heard over to the renovated Longboard’s Grill.

The Wedge

Grab five of your best friends and take the plunge on The Wedge.  With surprising twists & drops, you’ll sail down stories on an open air-raft.

Shore Break

While waiting in line, my daughter and I struck up conversation with a few guests in front of us.  One said, “These are like the rides I see on YouTube.”  She’s right!  The additional 2-acres feature the newest styles of water slides.

Shore Break features six drops down seven stories.  Four of these slides have guests step inside an Aqua-Chamber before the floor literally falls out from underneath them.  Don’t let the idea of free fall scare you; you’ve only got to be brave for a moment.  Once the fall begins you’ll find yourself looping and and curving.  One neat feature for those watching is you can see the person sailing along the translucent tubes.  My little one, not 48 inches tall, loved cheering them on.

Shore Break also offers two dueling slides.  Ride in solo inner tubes or in the double occupancy tubes.  The tube offers both dark spots and big splashes making it a great way to share in the fun with your family or friends.

15 Acres of Water Park Fun

Growing up in sunny Southern California, it’s crazy to admit that this was my first visit to Soak City.  I definitely regret the years of missing out.  I was so impressed with all of the slides and water play options.  With three kids of different ages, they all had favorite experiences.

Some of the highlights:

Banzai Falls – My 7-year-old loved racing down the huge slides on rafts! It reminded me of the carnival slide where you ride down on burlap sacks.

Malibu Run – Open and closed flumes allow single riders to soar down almost 40 feet.

Tidal Wave Bay – The breakers are rolling in.  Whether you want to jump through the waves or ride through them on an inner tube, the crowds all adored the 750,000 gallon wave pool.

Beach House –  A playground for mermaids awaits.  The Beach House features water guns, slides, and the big bucket!  Crowds gather awaiting the bucket to fill and then dump 500 gallons of water upon them!

Sunset River – My mama loved the lazy river.  Hop on an inner tube and float the one-third mile winding path, that boasts the title of one of the world’s longest.

Gremmie Lagoon – For my preschooler, Gremmie Lagoon was the perfect oasis.  A wading pool with ocean critters also hosts a submarine to explore.  She could have spent all day with the kid-sized fun.

After spending the day at Soak City, I know we’ll certainly be spending a lot of time there this summer.  I wanted to share how to make the day even more fun.

Tips for A Day at Knott’s Soak City Water Park

Get there early – With temperatures over 90 degrees, it was warm enough to dip our toes in the water the second we arrived.  We went straight for the big slides, before the lines got long.  Because I’m a planner, I’m already planning out our summer schedule.  It’d be perfect to spend the first half of our day at Soak City and head home for naptime (the preschooler’s and mine).   Check out the awesome deals on a season pass.

Getting there early also meant we got to nab a spot for our stuff.  Make sure your spot will have some shade throughout the day.  Tons of families set up umbrellas on the numerous grassy areas as a respite and gathering spot.

Consider a Cabana – Speaking of your spot, consider renting a cabana.  Up to 8 guests can escape to private getaway with table and chairs.  You also receive 4 inner tube rentals (no waiting for tubes at the bottom of rides) and waiter service.  At $220, it’s a bit more than I’d want to say on a random Tuesday.  However, it’d take a family fun day to seriously special as a private retreat.

Save on Tubing – Opening day was pretty packed.  But we still had a pretty easy time with inner tubes.  If you’re looking to save a little, skip the $10 rental.

Pack Your Flip Flops – Racing from attraction to attraction is part of the fun.  As the day warmed, so did the concrete.  Pack your flip flops for keeping your feet happy.

Consider the Plunges When Picking Your Suit – There are guidelines for attire while at the park; some attractions prohibit various items like metal components for your safety.  But let’s just say free falls have a way of moving your bathing suit into places.  Opt for conservative and coverage.

Keep the Kids Covered – It’s the ex-life guard in my mama that had her complimenting the Soak City staff’s attentiveness again and again.  They were on point.  Yet, it’s important to set some ground rules with your kids and address safety concerns.  We opted to bring our own Puddle Jumpers Life Jacket for 3-year-old; however, life jackets are available for free throughout the park.

Save Your Skin – Even if you’re there early, load on the sunscreen.  My Mediterranean skin does well in the sunshine, but I’m still not willing to suffer for days after when a quick application of SPF would save me.  If you’ve forgotten yours, Wipeout Surf Shop has you covered.

Dive into Lunch – All that splashing can work up an appetite.  The expended menu at Longboard’s Grill features cheeseburgers, chicken tenders, hot dogs, and yummy fries.  Or swim over to Portside Pizza or Surf Daddy’s Food Hut.  Outside food and drinks aren’t allowed, but you can always picnic outside the park at Breaker’s Park.

I was super thrilled to find Knott’s Berry Punch available in the soda machines!  If you plan on spending the season there, purchases a souvenir cup and get free refills all season long.  Tickets and seasons passes can be purchased online.

Growing up in Orange County, California, Knott’s Berry Farm has always been an institution. For my husband it holds special holiday memories.  Every year for Christmas Eve dinner, all throughout his childhood, his family would head to Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner House.  Now that we are parents, we’re looking to make some holiday memories of our own.

Head over to Santa’s Christmas Cabin for the sweetest flavors of the season! Guests can enjoy milk & cookies, themed desserts, hot chocolate, and so much more! Also inside Santa’s Christmas Cabin, park guests can get their snuggles in with Santa Claus. His elves will happily take your photo for purchase, but you can also use your own camera.

While we’re on the topic of treats, you can’t miss the famous funnel cake. The powdered sugar on a windy day almost makes it feel like it’s snowing.

Heartwarming Decor

With its craft vendors and rustic decor, Knott’s Merry Farm feels like an escape into a small town.  All throughout the park, large bows and festive garlands add to virtually everything. You may even see a familiar face hidden in the decorations.

The large Christmas tree makes for a festive photo op with the family. And having it set up for photos on multiple sides means there’s not a long line.

The day of our visit, the tree lighting ceremony was held at 5:15, but you’ll want to check showtimes  the day of your visit. They’re handed out with park maps also.

Show-Stopping Snoopy

As luck would have it, it ended up raining the day of our visit.  Where normally I’m cranky about weather in Southern California, it turned out to be such a blessing.  We were able to enjoy the many performances by our main man, Snoopy and his cast of characters.

A Christmas Carol & Gift of the Magi

Fly over to the Birdcage Theater (the one where Steve Martin took the stage) for one of the two Christmas classics.  Both offer multiple showings throughout the day.

A PEANUTS Guide to Christmas
My youngest and I had a blast watching the Peanuts gang sing about their survival during the holidays over in Camp Snoopy.  The show was approximately 15 minutes, and perfect for younger park guests.

It’s the Merriest Christmas Show Ever, Charlie Brown
When I saw the great stage at the outdoor Calico Mine Stage, I knew that director Charlie Brown must have something great up his sleeve.  You’ll won’t want to pull a football away from him after you see his one-of-a-kind Christmas pageant.

Snoopy on Ice
During the holidays, I’ve made it a tradition to take my children to see a holiday show.  Whether it be “It’s a Wonderful Life” or “The Nutcracker,” the holidays are a great opportunity to add a little exposure to the arts.  The Snoopy on Ice show was seriously fantastic, and worthy of a separate admission.  The skaters are phenomenal, the music both nostalgic and contemporary, and the Christmas message so perfectly tied into the presentation that the audience clapped.
