Summertime means snacking! From prepping for picnics to fueling fandom for the big game, our snacking is in overdrive. I’m not sure if the school day keeps the kids’ appetites at bay or if the abundant sunshine amplifies them. Either way, my kids are snacking a ton! Thankfully, I can stock up on all of our summetime snacks at Smart & Final. This month, we have been sharing fun ways to Beat the Heat with Smart & Final’s private label, First Street.

Snack Ideas to Beat the Heat

When it’s hot outside, there’s nothing better than a cool treat to tone down the temperatures. Some of our favorites include:
  • Frozen Fruit
  • Hummus & Veggies
  • Homemade Smoothies
  • Frozen Bananas Dipped in Yogurt or Chocolate
When stocking up for summer at my local Smart & Final, I was happy to find so many options, ranging from fresh produce to prepared meals.
We’ve been spending more time at home this summer (pretty much every minute), so having options at home that spark joy for my family are extra important. We found the ingredients for tons of fun snacks at Smart & Final. For Christmas in July, we enjoyed Frozen Hot Chocolate. Since we were missing the county fair, we brought home Snow Cone syrups & cups.

Ice Cream Cone Fruit Cups

For a simple summertime snack, fill ice cream cones with chopped fruit and whipped cream.

Ingredients:
  • First Street Cake Cups
  • Fresh fruit, chopped
  • First Street Whipped Cream
Easy Instructions: We filled our rainbow colored cake cups with chopped fruit. Each of my family was able to select their favorites and personalize their treat. Top your cone with a dollop of whipped cream and enjoy!
Adding fresh fruit to cake cones or even waffle cones makes it feel like you’re indulging in dessert. Plus, they are great options for portion control. Beating the Heat has never been sweeter!
You can find all the ingredients for your summertime snacks at your local Smart & Final. Don’t forget you can shop online if you’re looking to stock up while relaxing poolside.

  • Such a healthy treat and so refreshing and fun in those cones. I have to try this for my nieces and nephews this summer.

  • This is such a cute and unique idea to get kids eating a bit more fruit – I have to admit I LOVE fruit and summer is just the best for all sorts on offer.

  • That’s a really great idea! I can see adding some Greek yogurt to it to give it that creamy coolness that we love, too.

  • I would have never thought of this, but it is a genius idea! Definitely adding this stuff to my next shopping list!

  • This is adorable! Sometimes I don’t always like serving treats after dinner but yet we all crave something sweet. So I could do this and it would make them feel like they’re getting a treat but it’s healthier so I don’t feel guilty. Win win!

  • What a fantastic way to treat the kids!! I love the idea and with these enticing treats, the kids are going to love you more.

  • I like the idea of using ice cream cones as a way of serving fruit to kids! It becomes a fun treat instead of just a healthy one.
